Ms. Carolyn Pate Sheppard, age 84, of Sandersville, died peacefully, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, February 14 th at 2:00 p.m. in Davisboro City Cemetery with Reverend Stan Littleton officiating. Family will receive friends also on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until noon at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
Ms. Sheppard was a native of Washington County and reared in Davisboro. She was the daughter of the late William Wayne Pate and the late Valeria Moye Pate. She attended school in Davisboro and graduated from Sandersville High School. Ms. Sheppard began her working career and raising her family while living in Atlanta. She worked as a secretary, as merchandiser for Rubbermaid all prior to owning and operating Improvisions, a beauty spa. She relocated to Athens to be near family and worked as a real estate agent. Ms. Sheppard retired to Sandersville where she became active in her community as a member of Sandersville United Methodist Church, the Washington County Pilot Club, serving on the Sandersville Downtown Development Authority and continuing her love of playing bridge.
Survivors include her children, William Lester Sheppard and his wife Maria of Davisboro, and Christy S. Little and her husband Andy of Greensboro; grandson, Pate McKenzie Sheppard and his wife Brionna; grandchildren, Harper Sheppard, Blake Sheppard and Raylan Sheppard; brother, Billy Pate and his wife Judy of Davisboro and r sister-in-law, Vicky Pate of Florida.
