Mrs. Catherine Meeks “Totsie” Brantley age 94, of Tennille, died Friday October 9, 2009 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 11th at 2:pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Zeta Cemetery. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Brantley’s great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brantley was a native of Washington County the daughter of the late John Carlos Meeks and the late Sallie Josephine Amerson Meeks. She was a home maker and a member of the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, great grandchildren and cooking. Mrs. Brantley is predeceased by her husband Lonnie Thomas Brantley and her grandson Larry J. McAfee.
Survivors are her daughter Amelia B. McAfee (James) of Tennille, grandchildren, Patsy M. Dunn (Randy) of Tennille, Julie M. Orr (Allen) of Sandersville, and Lynn M. Gilbert (Bill) of Statesboro, and great grandchildren Erik Orr, A.J. Orr, Anna Dunn, Rachel Gilbert and Brooke Gilbert.
The family will be at the residence of Julie and Allen Orr 1595 Sunhill-Grange Rd., Sandersville and will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund 154 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Tennille, GA. 31089.
