Catherine Freeman Orr

Mrs. Catherine Freeman Orr, age 89, of Tennille, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at her residence, following an extended illness.   A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, December 30 ^th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tennille United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Washington Memorial Gardens.  Reverend Denita Knowles and Reverend Jeff Cook will officiate. Pallbearers will be Erik Orr, George Freeman Jr., Glenn Watson, Marty Cullens, Steve Freeman and Scott Fuss.   The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the social hall of the church.

Mrs. Orr was a native and lifelong resident of Tennille, the daughter of the late Lester Freeman and the late Ollie Ross Freeman.  She graduated from Tennille High School and attended business school in Macon.  Mrs. Orr began her working career as a secretary at Washington Manufacturing Company.  She was a homemaker for many years and lastly worked for the medical office of Dr. Marion Hurt.  Mrs. Orr was a great woodworker and loved making furniture for family and friends.  She was known as a Tennille historian and enjoyed speaking publicly about Tennille.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Allen Orr of Tennille; sons, Allen Orr and his wife Julie of Sandersville, Andy Orr and Tony Orr both of Tennille; grandchildren, Erik Orr and his wife Alicia of Dudley, A.J. Orr and his wife Kelli of Houston, TX., and Haley Orr of Sandersville; and great grandchildren, Maddie Orr, Mac Orr, Jackson Tanner, Jada Orr and Emerson Smith.
