Catherine Shurling Lewis

Mrs. Catherine Shurling Lewis, age 101, died Monday morning August 4 in the extended Care Facility in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday August 6 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Milledgeville City Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Mrs. Lewis was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Jerry Jasper Shurling, Sr. and the late Pencia Edith Brantley Shurling. She was the wife of the late Herbert Lewis. For over 31 years Mrs. Lewis was a practical nurse at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville. She was a member of the Tennille Baptist Church, the Piney Mount Homemakers Club and the Tennille Eager Agers.

Survivors are her sister, Helen Shurling Chapman of Tennille and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the service. They suggest that donations may be made to the Tennille Baptist Church.
