Cecil Edgar Corbett

Cecil Edgar Corbett, age 70, of Deepstep passed away unexpectedly at his residence.  A graveside memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m.  Sunday, September 17, 2023, in the Deepstep Community Church, formerly Deepstep Methodist, Cemetery. Reverend Larry Glover and Reverend Stan Ballew will officiate, and masonic rites will be rendered. His family will receive friends following the memorial service in the cemetery.

Cecil was born in Columbus, Georgia at Fort Benning Army Base. He was reared and lived in the Deepstep Community all of his life. Cecil attended Washington County High School where he was a part of the marching band, and he graduated from Brentwood School. Cecil began his working career in Construction and farming, prior to being trained as a professional truck driver, working for Howard Sheppard, Apache Trucking and United Transport.  Later he began a career with the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he currently worked as an assistant road foreman.  Cecil was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan. He possessed a lifelong love of music and playing the guitar.  Cecil enjoyed playing in bands throughout his life including the Cadillac Cowboys. He was an active mason for 48 years, as member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #58, where he was a past master. Cecil is predeceased by his father, Cecil Eppie Corbett and his daughter Monica C. Knight.

Survivors include his wife Brenda Kent Corbett of Deepstep; his son Josh Duane Corbett and his wife Alison of Ducula, GA.; grandchildren, Hailey Keyes and Jesse Corbett; mother, Alma Jean Fountain Corbett; brothers, Stephen Corbett and his wife Cindy, Mike Corbett; and nephew, Stephen Corbett Jr., all of Deepstep.
