Cecil Eugene Garner, Sr.

Mr. Cecil Eugene Garner, Sr., age 76, of 259 Garner Road in Warthen died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 2nd, in the Union Baptist Church near Warthen. Rev. Robert Cash and Rev. Roy Smith will officiate with burial in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Garner was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Harper Moses Garner and the late Evie Veal Garner. He was preceded in death by an infant brother and his sisters, Polly Tanner and Willie Mae Allen. Mr. Garner had worked for J. P. Stephens Company, Meadows Industries and was a retired supervisor for Shaw Industries. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Union Baptist Church.

Survivors are: his wife, Carolyn Faye Griffin Garner of Warthen; his children, Cecil Eugene Garner, Jr. and Randy Garner both of Milledgeville, Shannon Gunn Hobbs of Milledgeville and Kevin Gunn of Warthen; his grandchildren, Stephen Garner, Paige Garner, Dillon Garner, Danielle Snyder, Courtney Garner, Callie Hobbs, Whitney Hobbs, Ashley Hobbs, Katelyn Gunn; his great-grandchildren, Tyler Register and Kadan Register; and his beloved dogs and cats who were his constant companions, Max, Bailey, Mikie, Lucky and Snickers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 1st, at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
