Cecil Wade Mathis, Jr.

Cecil Wade Mathis Jr., age 65, passed away, Saturday, February 25, 2023, in Valdosta Georgia.  A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 2 ^nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Davisboro Cemetery.  Reverend Danny Yates will officiate.  The family will receive friends also on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until noon at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Mr. Mathis was born in Louisville and reared in Washington County.  He worked as a talented self-employed carpenter for most of his life.  Cecil was an avid outdoors man and loved to fish, hunt and camp on the river.  He is predeceased by his father, Cecil W. Mathis Sr.; stepfather, Randy Walden and niece, Jinny Machelle Smith.

Survivors include his sons, John Newton Mathis, Gerald Lamar Mathis, and Larry Jason Wade Mathis; stepdaughter, Cristal Everett (Chris); mother, Virginia Walden; siblings, David Mathis, Danny Mathis, Rusty Mullis, Scott Mullis (Serena), Angela Blue (William), Tosha Burkett (Tony) and Samantha Mathis Taylor; and mothers of his children, Tara Avant and Wanda Todd.
