Cecil H. Woodard

February 9, 1942 — July 18, 2017

Mr. Cecil H. Woodard, age 75, of Old Davisboro Rd. in Davisboro, died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 20, at New Hope United Methodist Church near Davisboro. Reverend Ron Dixon will officiate.

Mr. Woodard was a native of Washington County, Georgia, the son of the late Julian Howard Woodard, Sr. and Ora Moye Woodard. He is preceded in death by his son, Heath Woodard, sister, Alice Kearse, and brothers, Durin Woodard and Howard Woodard. Mr. Woodard was retired as an environmental inspector with Savannah River Plant. He was a retired from the Army Reserves having served during the Vietnam conflict and Operation Desert Storm. He was an active member of New Hope Methodist Church.

Survivors include: his companion, Velma Veal; step children, Lisa Cullens and her husband Bill of Harrison and Al Veal (Karen)of Wrightsville; grandchildren, Devon Veal and Al B.Veal all of Wrightsville; brother, Fred Woodard and his wife Judy of Riddleville; and sister, Dorothy Norris of Sandersville.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.

Donations may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Sandra Williamson, 6428 Heards Bridge Rd., Bartow, Ga. 30413.
