Mr. Charles Chester Allbee, age 81, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Veterans Hospital following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 2 nd at 11:00 a.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens with military honors. Reverend Sam Scagg will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Hill, Wayne Hill, Clint Hancock, Justin Hancock, Lance Hancock and Michael Selby. Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Hancock and Justin Selby.
Mr. Allbee was a native of Hamburg, Iowa, the son of the late Nathaniel Allbee and the late Margaret Walker Allbee. He served in the US Army for 25 years, retiring as a Master First Sergeant. In retirement he worked for Cooper Tire Company in Texarkana, TX and also with Jet Food Stores while living in Dublin. Mr. Allbee enjoyed being a regular annual attendee of the 42 nd Airborne retiree group in Columbus. He is predeceased by his wife, Claudia Louise Hancock Allbee.
Survivors are his children, Tanya Huston and her husband Greg of Aransas Pass, TX., and Tammy Crawley and her husband Alan of Statham, GA.; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and his sister, Gloria Peterson of Wahoo Nebraska.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
