Charles David Anderson, Sr

Mr. Charles David Anderson, Sr., age 79, of Holmes Cannery Road, Tennille, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, February 23rd, at 3:00 p.m., at Pine Hill Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.  Reverend Phil Pilgram and Reverend Don Black will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ricky Sheppard, Shannon Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Allen Veal, Sylvester Hooks, Keith Everett, Jamie Reynolds and Lee Strickland.   Mr. Anderson's family will greet friends on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service, at the Church.

David was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, son of the late Ivey Ray Anderson, Jr. and the late Alberta Tompkins Anderson.  He was reared in Tennille, on the Anderson family farm, and graduated from Washington County High School, class of 1963.  David attended Georgia Institute of Technology and obtained a bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering.  He returned home and began a long career in the Kaolin Industry, beginning with Georgia Kaolin and retiring as a plant manager with ECC International.  During his working career, David registered numerous patents in kaolin processing, of which many are still in use today.  Following retirement, David used his entrepreneurial skills and operated his own minerals processing plant.  He also obtained his real estate license and along with his wife Nora, sold real estate for Century 21.  David possessed a lifetime love of growing things and enjoyed gardening.  In 2023, David entered the Guiness Book of World Records by growing the largest sweet potato on record.  He loved reading and studying astro physics and meteorology.  David was a member of Pine Hill Methodist Church.  In addition to his parents, his beloved wife Nora Mae Burgamy Anderson and his brother Willliam Anderson, all predecease him.

Survivors include his children, Charles David Anderson, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Sandersville and Teresa A. Rhodes and her husband Ron of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Daniel Anderson and his wife Meredith and Sydney Oliver and her husband Will; three great grandchildren and siblings, Carolyn A. Harrelson, Bobby Anderson and his wife Gail and Tommy Anderson all of Tennille.
