Charles Gus Denton Sr.

Mr. Charles Gus Denton Sr., age 74, of West Church Street, Sandersville, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his residence. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Carl Brooks, Clarence Durden, Keith Lindsey, Kelma Lashley, Eddie Warren and Marvin Denton.

Mr. Denton was born in Lawrenceville Virginia the son of the late Melvin Charles Denton and the late Edna Mae Adcock Denton. He was reared Macon County Georgia where he graduated high school. Mr. Denton was a 40 plus year veteran of the Kaolin Industry retiring as the drill shop Forman with Imerys. He was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church and possessed a great love for family and gardening. Mr. Denton served in the Georgia Nation Guard and he is predeceased by his granddaughter Madison Brantley.

Survivors are; his wife of 40 years, Judy Warren Denton of Sandersville, children, Jennifer Denton Garner and her husband Jeffrey of Sandersville, Charles G. Denton Jr. and his wife Mary Susan of Deepstep and Susan Denton Brantley and her husband Jamie of Sandersville, grandchildren, Landon Garner, Luke Denton, Thomas Denton, Mabrey Garner, Zach Denton, Emma Brantley, Ethan Brantley, his brother Al Denton and his wife Uldena of Deepstep and his sister Patsy D. Jarrell and her husband Freddie of Butler.

The family will be at the Denton residence on West Church Street and they will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
