Charles M. Franklin

Sandersville

Mr. Charles M. Franklin, age 92, of Sandersville, died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville with military honors. Reverend Lee Lacey will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Franklin, William Franklin, Travis Giles, Wayne Veal, Bud Pulliam, and Ken Meeks.

Mr. Franklin was born in Burke County and reared in Washington County, the son of the late Thomas Beck Franklin, Sr. and the late Minnie Lee Cox Franklin. He was retired as the owner and operator of Franklin Propane, and he was a member of the Sisters Baptist Church. Mr. Franklin was a charter member and former commander of the John Conn Post of the V.F.W. He was a US Army Veteran who served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Franklin is predeceased by his wife Ruth Frazier Franklin.

Survivors are: his sons, Michael A. Franklin and his wife Sandra of Sandersville, and Tim Franklin and his wife Lisa of Tennille; grandchildren, Melissa Franklin, Jonathan Franklin, and William Franklin and his wife Stefany; and one great granddaughter, Emily Franklin.

The family will be at the home of Mike and Sandra Franklin on Mayview Road, and they will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
