Charles Randall "Randy" Smith

Charles R. Smith “Randy”, age 78 of Tennille passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2024, surrounded by family that he loved so dearly. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21st at Piney Mount United Methodist Church in Tennille, with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private, at a later date.

Randy was born on August 17,1945, the son of the late Jean and Wesley Smith of Oconee. He was an electrician with BASF, formerly Engelhard, retiring after forty-three years. He was a lifelong member of Piney Mount United Methodist Church. Randy was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener and could be found most days rambling in his yard admiring their flower and vegetable gardens. Some of his fondest memories were being a member of the Boy Scouts of America, in which he proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout. His fondest love was by far his family. He adored his wife, children and grandchildren. Randy is predeceased by his parents, Jean and Wesley Smith; brother, Larry Smith and son-in-law, Dan Veal.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sandra Jackson Smith; children, Delene Smith French and her husband Tony of Sandersville, Debra Smith Veal and Charles R. Smith, Jr. both of Tennille; grandchildren ,Josh Evans, Taylor Daniel Veal, Katy French and Keely French; brother, Tony B. Smith of Milledgeville; and sister-in-law, Tresser G. Smith of Hiawasee, Ga.

The family will receive visitors at the home of Delene and Tony French, 287 N Lake Drive, Sandersville, Ga.
