Charles Henry Smith, Sr.

Mr. Charles Henry Smith, Sr., age 83, of Hampton, GA passed away August 25, 2017. Mr. Smith was born in Adrian, Georgia the son of the late Nora Lord Smith and John Henry Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Grable Smith.

Mr. Smith enjoyed spending time with family and friends, his cat “Peaches”, playing on his farm in Middle Georgia, playing the guitar, reading, bird watching, riding bicycles, cross word puzzles and the stock market. He was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church where he was a previous Deacon. He served his country in the United States Army, and was a member of the Hampton Masonic Lodge.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Walters Smith of Hampton; children, Sherry Joan Smith of Hampton and Buddy Smith (Rachel) of Dixon, TN; step grandchildren, Luke, Al, Andy, Will and Tory Gunn; sister, Dot Pettis of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 6 – 7:00 PM with the funeral service following at 7:00 PM with Rev. Craig McAdams officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 – 11:00 AM at Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville, GA.
