Mr. Charles Emmitt Tyson, age 88, of Harrison died on Tuesday morning December 16, 2014 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 18th, in the Harrison Baptist Church with burial in the Harrison Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Andy Carter will officiate. Pallbearers will be Spencer Tyson, Justin Wright, Adam LeBlanc, Jarrod Josey, Donald Smith and Rocky Tanner.
Mr. Tyson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Joe Kindman Tyson and Hattie Hartley Tyson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Tyson. Mr. Tyson retired from Apparel Craft Corp after thirty eight years of service. He was a farmer and was passionate about the care of the land. He was a member and Deacon of the Harrison Baptist Church and a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau. Mr. Tyson was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. He was very proud of his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. He was an avid Bulldog fan and loved the Yankees.
Survivors are his wife, Roselyn S. Tyson of Harrison; two daughters, Kay Tyson LeBlanc and her husband Bob of Savannah and Tamara Tyson Josey and her husband Randy of Sandersville; four sons, Charles Tristan Tyson and his wife Ann of Harrison, Dylan Alan Tyson of Harrison, Thomas Kindman Tyson and his wife Lori of Harrison and Melton Spencer Tyson and his wife Susan of Zebulon, NC; ten grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
The family will be at the home of Thomas Tyson, 1881 Main Street in Harrison and will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
The family suggests donations be made to the Harrison Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1, Harrison, Georgia 31035.
