Mr. Charles Elmer Wood, age 60, of 620 East South Central Avenue in Tennille died Thursday December 10 in the Washington Regional Medical Center in Sandersville following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday December 14 in the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church in Sandersville. The Rev. Danny Thomas and Rev. L. T. Logue will officiate with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille.
Mr. Wood was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Thomas L. Wood and the late Johnnie Mae Horton Wood. He was a truck driver with Howard Sheppard, Inc. Mr. Wood was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Jean Williams Wood of Tennille, his children, Charles Ashley Wood of Milledgeville, Regina Ann Wood Reeves of Sandersville, Eugenia Wood of Davisboro, Tammy Bridges Crook of Sandersville and Troy Bridges of Sandersville, step children, John Prosser of Tennille, Norma Jean Brown and Bonnie Sims both of Sandersville, three sisters, Patricia Ann Griffin, Dale Sparks and Susan Hannah all of Eatonton, fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday.
