Charolette M Thompson

Mrs. Charolette M. Thompson, age 76, of Sandersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, August 26, 2022.  A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church 8225 Linton Road in Washington County. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.

Charolette was born in Rockford, Alabama, and raised in Winter Garden, Florida.  She is the daughter of the late Elzie Inzer Minor and the late Gladys Katherine Minor.  Charolette graduated from Lakeview High School and was involved in numerous school clubs as well as a being a majorette and playing in the band. Charolette attended Jones Business School and began a secretarial career. She married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart Ted Thompson.  After Ted’s tour in the armed service, they moved to Apopka and started their wholesale nursery business. During the next 35 years, Ted and Charolette operated the F.E. Thompson, Jr. Nursery.  While living in Apopka she raised her family and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winter Garden.  In her spare time, Charolette was a wedding director and seamstress. She enjoyed the role of being an entertainer and would often create a costume, become that character, and entertain for charitable events.  In 2005, Ted and Charolette retired to Washington County, Georgia, where she again became active in her community. Charolette was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved to paint, sew, and cook.  She was an avid gardener and loved to feed the birds. Charolette, along with others, established the Fall Line Artist Guild.  She was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club, as well as the Sorosis Club. Charolette was known as a people person, bubbly upbeat personality, always doing things for others with a genuine smile, showing compassion and love.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Floyd Edward (Ted) Thompson, Jr; daughter, Wendy T. Acosta and her husband Ralph; and grandson, Logan Acosta all of Sandersville, Georgia; brother, James Edwin Minor and his wife Michelle of Portland, Tennessee.
