Chester Dwight "Ike" Boyd

Mr. Chester Dwight “Ike” Boyd, age 71 of Tennille, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with family offering remarks of remembrance. Interment will follow the service in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Trent Toussau, Tyler Brett, Mark Yarbrough, Lindsey Smith, Corey Blackmon, and Kevin Lindsey. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Boyd, known best as “Ike” was born and raised in Washington County, the son of the late J.D. Boyd, Jr. and the late Frances Smith Boyd. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ike was an easy-going guy, who never met a stranger. Ike was an avid fan of the University of Georgia football team and the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed playing cards as well as fishing. Ike also loved dancing, but above all he cherished his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Joe Dale Boyd, Dennis Boyd, Claire Brett, and Michael Boyd.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his children, Anne Marie Boyd of Tennille, and Dwight David Boyd and his wife Jamie of Ishpeming, Michigan; grandchildren, Kelcie King, and Kaeden King, both of Tennille, Ella Boyd, Daphne Boyd, and Abram Ike Boyd, all of Ishpeming, Michigan; sister, Sandra Bird of Douglas; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
