Charles (Chuck) H. Jolley, 61, of Deepstep, GA, passed away on July 24th, 2022, after an inspirational, hard-fought and yearlong battle against cancer. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 26 at Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene with burial at Deepstep United Methodist Church Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Joe Crosby will officiate. Pallbearers will be Barry Shurling, Robert Shurling, Jimmy Shurling, Rhonie Rogers, Jerry Jackson, Carl Moye, Stacy Everett, Eddie Rhodes, Vic Cheely, Janet Lindsey, and Eileen Moncus. Honorary Pallbearers will be musicians that Chuck has played with.
Chuck was born on September 30, 1960, along with his twin brother, Tommy, who were the youngest of 4 older siblings. At the age of 8, Chuck taught himself how to play the bass guitar and started traveling with gospel groups and playing and singing at church. His love of music would span his entire life and continued to play and sing while even writing music for bands such as Fall Line and Southern Touch. He would be a part of many bands that ranged from country, gospel, and even southern rock. His musical aptitude and knowledge was unmatched. His time playing music during his life prepared him to be now playing in, as referred to by his son-in-law Ron Moore, The Big Band.
In July of 1978, Chuck would meet the love of his life, Tanya Waddell, on a blind date set up by his twin brother and his girlfriend, Dianne Everett (now married) and would become married on July 20, 1980. The two spent 42 wonderful years married that includes 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. His family would be the one part of his life he loved more than music. They moved to Deepstep, GA in 1987 where they would spend a majority of their marriage. Chuck worked in the mining industry for more than 40 years as a Laboratory Technician and Hauling Coordinator.
Chuck was preceded in death by his Mother- Helen Jolley, Father - Harris Jolley, Siblings- Sammy Jolley and Brenda Wilkes, and Mother-In-Law - Linda Lunsford Waddell. Chuck is survived by his Wife - Tanya Jolley; Brother - Tommy Jolley (Dianne), Sister - Dorothy Anderson, Sister - Laney Martin (Dave); Daughter and Son-In-Law - Christin and Jason Davis, Daughter and Son-In-Law - Jessica and Ron Moore, Son - Harris Jolley; Grandchildren, Charlie Davis, Brooks Moore, Wyatt Moore, Cora Lee Davis, Evelyn Davis, Bonnie Davis, and Evan Grace Moore; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
