Clarence Thomas Durden

Mr. Clarence Thomas Durden, age 76, of Sandersville passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023.  A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023 at Sandersville First Church of The Nazarene at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Joe Crosby, and Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 28 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at May & Smith Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Chase Durden, Ty Darsey, Trevor Darsey, Gayner Durden, Mitch Kersey, Tommy Logue, Cliff Wright, and John Wright.

Mr. Durden was born in Hancock County, the son of the late Gaynor Thomas Durden and Nancy Meeks Durden.  He retired from Imerys as a drill operator and was an avid woodworker and enjoyed restoring furniture, but his greatest joy was his family. Mr. Durden was a disabled veteran having served in the United States Army.  He also was a faithful member of Sandersville First Church of the Nazarene.  Mr. Durden is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emma Rose Marie Darsey and brother, William Davis.

Mr. Durden is survived by his wife, Dianne M. Durden of Sandersville; children, Clint T. Durden and his wife Dawn of Warthen, Debra Durden of Sandersville, and Katie D. Darsey and her husband Alan of Sandersville; grandchildren, Chase T. Durden, Natalie Durden, Ty Darsey, Madelyn McQuaig, and Trevor Darsey; siblings, James H. Durden and his wife Brenda and Carolyn Scott; his loyal friend, Sadie and other grand dogs.
