Cleary Edenfield Slater

Mrs. Cleary Edenfield Slater, age 97, of Tennille, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Tennille Assisted Living following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, at 2:00pm at the Tennille Baptist Church with burial in the Zeta Cemetery also in Tennille. Dr. Jerrell Pritchett and Rev. Darell Young will officiate.

Mrs. Slater was born in Emanuel County the daughter of the late J.P. Edenfield and the late Vergie Kearsey Edenfield. She was a homemaker and formerly worked as a nurse at the Memorial Hospital of Washington County before working as a greeter for Wal-Mart in retirement. Mrs. Slater was an active member of the Tennille Baptist Church and is predeceased in death by her husband Fred Slater and her daughter Carolyn Virginia Slater.

She is survived by her daughter Sarah Slater of Tennille.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 to 4pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
