Clifford Carol Lord

November 3, 1937 — August 21, 2013

Cdr. Clifford C. Lord, US Navy Retired, of Fleming Island FL, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24th, at 11:00 a.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille with military honors. Pastor Larry Hall will officiate.

Cdr. Lord was born in Johnson County and raised in Washington County the son of the late John Nathan Lord and the late Audrey Mae Wyatte Lord. Cdr. Lord spent a career with the U.S. Navy serving two tours of duty in Viet Nam. Once retired from active duty, Cdr. Lord worked with various government contractors supporting naval aviation. He also worked as a Florida Elections Poll Worker. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, the V.F.W. and he was a Mason. Cdr. Lord loved music and shared his musical talents at his church, the Green Cove Church of God. He was predeceased by a sister, Addie Amaryllis Burt.

Survivors are his wife, Louise Hof Lord, of Fleming Island, FL; children, Anna Marie H. Fisher and Charles Carl Hof both of Jacksonville, FL, Audrey L. Peterson and her husband Wayne and John Nathan Lord II and his wife Rhonda all of Orange Park, FL, and Carol Lyn L. Cleveland and her husband Terry of Chantilly, VA; grandchildren, Brandie Peterson, Valerie Walls, Natalie Kinley, Rowan Lord, Steven Chadwick, Charlie Chadwick, Nathan Cleveland, Elizabeth Cleveland, Jerry Fisher, John Fisher and Ashley Fisher; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Nathan Lord and his wife Marjorie of Hollywood, MD; and sisters, Lujean L. Brantley of Miami, FL, and Helen L. Harrell and her husband L.J. of Lakeland, FL.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
