Clyde K Wright

Sandersville

Mr. Clyde K. Wright, age 78, of Evergreen Drive, Sandersville, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Sandersville United Methodist Church with burial in Sandersville's Old City Cemetery. Dr. Stan Littleton will officiate. Members of the Asbury Sunday School Class of SUMC will sit together as an honorary group.

Clyde was a Laurens County native and reared in Dudley, the son of the late Clyde Kenneth Wright, Sr. and the late Rassie Spiers Wright. He graduated in 1961 from Dudley High School prior to attending North Georgia Trade School in Clarksville where he was a member of the men's basketball team. Clyde spent two years at Middle Georgia before transferring to the University of Georgia where he graduated with honors in 1967. In 1969, he received his Master of Accountancy at Georgia, where he was a member of Beta Alpha Phi, a national honors accounting fraternity. Clyde began his professional career with Haskins and Sells in Atlanta. In 1970, he married Norma Jones of Elberton and they moved to Sandersville where they established Clyde K. Wright, P.C. later named Wright and Wright, P.C. with the addition of their son Brian in 1999.

Clyde was actively involved in his community as past president of the Sandersville Lions Club, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and Heart of Georgia Chapter of CPA’s. He was also a former member of the Brentwood Board of Directors. He was a longtime and active member of Sandersville United Methodist Church, where he served in numerous roles in addition to membership in his beloved Asbury Sunday School Class. He was a long-time member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church Foundation Board and served as the treasurer for many years.

Clyde was dedicated to serving his broad client base around middle Georgia.  In his working relationships he took pride in being fair and honest but as most know, his dry wit would always come through. He and Norma enjoyed traveling and spending time at St. Simons Island, but above all, he loved being with his three grandchildren.  Clyde cherished time spent nurturing, supporting, and talking with Mary James, Will and Carrie. They brought light and life especially following the death of his beloved wife Norma.

Survivors include his son, Brian Wright and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Mary James Wright, Will Wright and Carrie Wright all of Sandersville; and brother, Earl Wright and his wife Carole of Augusta.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville. The family will be at Brian and Jennifer's residence on South Smith Street in Sandersville.

Donations may be made to Sandersville United Methodist Church Foundation P.O. Box 611, or to Brentwood School Building Fund, P.O. Box 955, both Sandersville, GA. 31082 in memory of Clyde K. Wright.
