Mrs. Cynthia Arthur Maddox, age 57, of Deepstep, died Sunday, June 01, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. The Reverend Lee Lacey will officiate. Pallbearers will be Edward Miller, Danny Jackson, Robbie Morris, Wayne Poole, Corey Kitchens, and Russell Brown. Honorary groups will be employees of City of Sandersville and Oconee Outreach Volunteers.
Mrs. Maddox was born in Green County and raised in Baldwin County. She was the daughter of the late George Pirkle Arthur and the late Murel Jones Arthur. Cynthia began her working career at the age of 15 at the Western Auto Store in Milledgeville where she eventually became the store manager. Currently, Cynthia served as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Sandersville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville and an active volunteer for Oconee Outreach, an organization she dearly loved and helped organize.
Survivors are her husband, Mitchell Maddox of Deepstep; children, Michael A. Maddox and his wife Jenna of Waynesboro and Brittany M. Maddox of Deepstep; her sister, Lisa A. Brown and her husband Joe of Milledgeville; and her niece, Heather Kitchens and her husband Corey of Milledgeville.
The family will be at the Maddox residence of Smyrna Church Road in Deepstep and they will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
