Darryl Wayne Green Sr.

Darryl Wayne Green Sr., age 63, of Grady Mertz Road in Tennille, passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 14, 2024.   A funeral service to celebrate Darryl's life will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Zeta Cemetery.  Rev. Scott Ferguson will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Darryl Green Jr., Jordan Reid, Tim Blue, Mathew Green, Colby Mathis, and Elliott Grice. Darryl's family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Darryl was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County where he was reared in Tennille and graduated from Washington County School.  After graduating he joined the US Georgia Army National Guard where he served for seven years.  While serving in the guard his was noted as an expert rifleman and learned the skills of heavy equipment operation.  Darryl spent his entire working career as a heavy equipment operator working for C.T. Harris Inc. and retiring with Howard Sheppard Inc.  He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing.  Most of all he cherished time spent with his family especially with his dad and grandchildren.  Darryl was excellent with cooking on the grill and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.  He was known to be loud with a big heart.  Darryl's mother Florence Emily Turner Green and his brother William Kerry Green both predecease him.

Survivors include his loving wife Joyce Green of Tennille; children, Dana G. Blue and her husband Tim, Darryl W. Green Jr. and his wife Carly and DeAnna G. Reid and her husband Jordan; grandchildren, Bella Reid, Hunter Reid and Darryl W. "Trey" Green III; a grandson-to-be John William Green; his father Willie Green; brothers, Keith Green and his wife Pam and Travis Green and his wife Christy and the mother of his children, Debra Whipple Green.
