David Rudolph Ginn

Mr. David Rudolph Ginn, age 82, of Sandersville, died Wednesday, September 01, 2010 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church of Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Rev. Lee Lacey and Rev. Marlon Lastinger will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brandon Cobb, Chris Robinson, Aaron Cobb, John Mason, Mike Pope and Terry Bertoch. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Irwin Evans Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

Mr. Ginn was born in Bulloch County the son of the late William Hugh Ginn and the Ethel Jackson Ginn. He served in the US Navy during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ginn began his career in the Kaolin Industry in 1953 with Champion Paper Company as an electrical engineer and retired in 1993 as an executive vice president for Thiele Kaolin Company. He is a former president of the Georgia Mining Association. Mr. Ginn was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville where he was former chairman of the Deacons as well as a longtime Sunday school teacher and a member of the church brotherhood. He was an avid Washington County civic leader and a member and past president of the Sandersville Rotary Club where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Ginn is predeceased by his first wife of 51 years Lucy Reese Ginn, his son-in-law Glynn Robinson and step son Kevin Johnson.

Survivors are; his wife Faye Johnson Ginn, children, Deborah G. Cain (Tommy), Michael W. Ginn (Jean), Nancy G. Robinson and step daughter Lisa Bertoch (Terry) all of Sandersville, grandchildren, Brandon Cobb (Lacie) of Louisville, Chris Robinson (Brandy) of Charlotte NC, Aaron Cobb (Megan) of Thomson, Laura G. Mason (John) of Atlanta, David Robinson (Lauren) of Sandersville, Heather G. Pope (Mike) and Jennifer Lucy Ginn both of Amelia Island FL, step grandchildren Amanda Bertoch of Athens, Alyssa Johnson of Milledgeville and Morgan Johnson of Sandersville, great grandchildren, Carly Robinson and Baylor Cobb and his sister Margaret Newton of Statesboro.

The family will be at the Ginn residence 736 Woodbine Drive, Sandersville and will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
