Mr. David Lee Mills, age 92 of Deepstep, Georgia, formerly of Blackshear, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 2:00p.m. in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV, with burial to follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason Mills, Ron Bushman, David Mock, Rocky Mills, Jackson Cheek, and Randolph Cole. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Mills was born in Abney, West Virginia, the son of the late Pearlie Mills and the late Beulah Ann Foley Mills. He proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Mills spent a time as a coal miner while in West Virginia but spent most of his working career as a salesman with Lawon Products. In addition to his career as a salesman, he was a pilot and a published author, with his book, “A Lesson of Faith.” Mr. Mills also enjoyed working with any and everything mechanical. He was a Freemason, and a man of deep faith. Above all else he loved his God and his family. Mr. Mills was a member of Friendship W Baptist Church in Deepstep. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Bonnie Cole, Leola Edwards, Virginia Cole, and James Mills.
Mr. Mills is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Vivian Trail Mills; children, Linda Keller and her husband Flint, of Deepstep, Georgia, and Greg Mills and his wife Ann of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jason Mills and his wife Tracy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Betsy Bushman and her husband Ron of Salt Lake City, Utah, David Mock and his wife Candice of Newborn, Georgia, and Richard Mock and his wife Amy of Monticello, Georgia; great grandchildren, Grace Mills, Emma Mills, Kelsey Cheek, Jackson Cheek, Shay Mock, Vivian Mock, Emily Mock, Brittani Bushman, Braden Bushman, and Bella Hardin; great-great grandchildren, Rowan Peete, Ashton Cheek, and Ethan Bushman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
