Davis Reese Masdon

Mr. Davis Reese Masdon, age 69, of Griffin, died Monday, March 3, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6th, at 2:00 p.m.at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens with military honors. Pastor Cindy J. Glover will officiate. Pallbearers will be Stacey Johnson, Kirsten Gunter, Chris Gunter, Robbie Lindsey, Matt Fields, and Olin Glover.

Mr. Masdon was born in Dekalb County the son of the late Davis Samuel Masdon and the late Maudie Mardell King Masdon. He is predeceased by his son David Wayne Masdon. Mr. Masdon spent a 32 year career with the Georgia Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. One great joy of his job was working as a canine specialist. Mr. Masdon was a lover of the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Gill Masdon of Griffin; sons, Darrell Reese Masdon and his wife Nicki of Dawsonville and Daniel Russell Masdon and his wife Rachel of Griffin; grandchildren, Katelyn Masdon, Kayla Masdon, Alexander Masdon, Andrew Chase Masdon, Christopher Gunter, and Kirsten Gunter; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.
