Debbie Kahn Friedman

February 5, 1954 — February 14, 2023

Debbie Kahn Friedman was born on February 5, 1954 in Sandersville, GA and died of brain cancer on February 14, 2023 at Heritage Inn, Sandersville. She was brilliant, funny, and fearless and her passing is an enormous loss for all who loved her.  A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.  Family and friends will gather at 12:30 prior to the service in the Cemetery.  A celebration of life will be held later in Atlanta.

Debbie graduated from Washington County High School. Among her achievements were first place in the AAA Georgia High School essay contest, nomination to the Governor's Honors Program, University of Georgia Certificate of Merit and Who's Who in American High Schools.  She was a member of the Varsity Debate Team, the Chess Club and FHA and was coeditor of her senior yearbook.

She went on to went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications at the University of Georgia and was a disc jockey for the university radio station, enabling her to share her impeccable taste in music.

After moving to Atlanta, Debbie worked as a typesetter, editor, and graphic designer. For the past 12 years she worked as a property manager for high rise condominiums in metro Atlanta. Debbie was very involved in her neighborhood; she was a member of her HOA board for many years and served as a liaison to City of Atlanta elected officials.

She loved University of Georgia Football, exercising, cats, cooking, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, NYC, margaritas at El Ponce, Mexico Beach, FL, and Atlanta with all its hedonistic charm. She cherished her cousins and friends and was so grateful to those who helped care for her during her illness.

She is survived by her brother, Robert and his wife Mary Stein; dear friends, Dianne Olansky, Cheri Eisenberg; and many beloved cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Maurice Friedman of Sandersville. A special thank you to the staff at Heritage Inn, Sandersville and Affinis Hospice.
