Mrs. Diane R. Taylor, age 83, of Davisboro, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, August 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at Davisboro United Methodist Church. Reverend Jay Reppert and Reverend Ron Dixon will officiate. Mrs. Taylor’s family will receive friends also on Saturday from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Taylor Home on North Main Street, in Davisboro.
Diane was born and reared in Thomaston, Georgia, daughter of the late Jacob McKenzie Rowell and the late Annie Lois Long Russell. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School where she excelled in sports, especially Basketball and Softball. Following high school, she perused a degree in education at Georgia College for Women in Milledgeville. Daine married Jack Taylor Jr. and began rearing her family in Davisboro. She later returned to Georgia College and obtained a degree in nursing. Her nursing career began as an intensive care nurse at Memorial Hospital of Washington County. She later transitioned into geriatrics at Glendale Nursing Home in Wadley. Lastly, Diane retired as director of Nursing at Heritage Inn of Sandersville. In retirement she continued her passion for nursing care as a hospice nurse. Diane was an active member of the Davisboro United Methodist Church where she formerly taught Sunday school and participated in the church’s United Methodist Women’s group. She was a long-term talented bridge player. Her love was caring for others, especially cooking for friends, family and those in need. Diane was an avid Georgia Bulldawgs and Atlanta Braves fan. She cherished time reading. She also loved collecting antiques and thrift shopping. One of her favorite times of the year was July 4th in Davisboro where she transitioned her home into “Grand Central Station” entertaining numerous family and friends. She was a great supporter of Fine Arts and loved attending grandchildren’s performances at the high school. She attended many Washington County Concert Association Concerts. A favorite pastime was sitting on her front porch watching birds.
Survivors include her husband, Jack B. Taylor Jr., children, Kim T. Bost of Lake Tillery, NC., Kelly T. Severance and her husband Sammy of Davisboro and Jack B. Taylor III and his wife Meredith of Sandersville; grandchildren, Zachary Bost (Alex), Taylor A. Bost, Emma Grace Bost, Bethany S. Williams (Ben), Caleb Severance (Peyton), Payton Severance, Jack B. Taylor IV and Nell Taylor; her great granddaughter Leyton Angelia Severance and her sister Vickie Moses and her husband Heshy of Sabastian, FL.
