Mr. Walker was a lifelong resident of Washington County, born in Warthen to the late Joe Carlie Walker and Mary Elizabeth Shurling Walker. After high school, he began his working career with H.L. McCaskill Construction Company in Sandersville and later in 1968 started his own company, Modern Concrete Inc., which he operated with his wife Elizabeth until 1980. He later worked with A.L. Williams Associates, now known as Primerica Financial. Mr. Walker finished his career with the State of Georgia as a Project Quality Control Manager for state building projects, retiring in 2005.
Donald loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Balerma Baptist Church for many years, serving as an ordained deacon and song leader for the church. He also was an active volunteer in the Sandersville civic community, especially the Civitan Club where he served as President and Secretary Treasurer during his twenty plus years with the organization. Mr. Walker never met a stranger and always enjoyed a good conversation with those he would meet. He loved fishing and following the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. Above all else he was a devout Christian and a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.
