Donnie Mason

Mr. Donnie Mason, age 75 of Harrison, passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 6, 2024. A graveside service to celebrate Mr. Mason’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Bay Springs Cemetery in Oconee. Reverend Jimbo Dominey will officiate, and pallbearers will be Johnathan Mason, Andrew Smith, Stacy Williford, Stanley Williford and Glenn Phillips. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Mason was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was the son of the late John Wilmer Mason and Jewel Grace Ellis Mason. Mr. Mason had a long career in the Kaolin Industry, retiring as a foreman with Burgess Pigment Company. In his spare time Mr. Mason enjoyed gardening and possessed a special ability to grow just about anything, he even created his own special soil mixture. Mr. Mason also enjoyed working with wood, but his greatest hobby and past time was fishing. He was a member of Piney Mount United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mason is preceded in death by his wife, Lavin Johnson Mason; sister, Geraldine Mason Redding; and brothers, James Mason and Gerald Mason.

Mr. Mason is survived by his daughters, Donna Mason of Marietta, and Mattie Mason of Sandersville; granddaughter, Raelyn Mason; sister, Dorothy Mason Ward and her husband Vonnie of Tennille; brothers, Wilmer Gene “Buddy” Mason of Tennille, and Ronnie Mason and his wife Sheila of Sandersville; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Mr. Mason’s memory to Piney Mount United Methodist Church, P O Box 575, Sandersville, GA 31082.
