Dora Brantley Kitchens

Mrs. Dora Brantley Kitchens, age 81, of 655 E J Lane in Bartow died Tuesday evening, September 25, 2012 at the residence of her daughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 28th, in the Riddleville Baptist Church. Rev. Billy R. King and Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate with burial in the Riddleville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Lindsey, T. J. Thompson, Brian Lindsey, Kyle Woods, Chris Smith, Tristan Smith, Seth Lindsey, Roby Aycock, Richie Aycock, Chase Dunn, Luke Lindsey and Logan Pinion.

Mrs. Kitchens was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Thomas Luther Brantley and the late Pearl Mercer Brantley. She was the wife of the late James Harry Kitchens; and she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas J. Brantley and Thomas Luther Brantley, Jr. Mrs. Kitchens was a licensed practical nurse and a homemaker. She was a member of the Riddleville Baptist Church. Mrs. Kitchens was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as, a caring friend and neighbor to many.

Survivors are her children: Carol Smith and her husband Jimmy of Riddleville, Glynda Thompson and her husband Tommy of Sandersville, and Harold Moats and his wife Jeni of Tennille; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her two affectionate pets, LuLu and Liza Jane.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday.
