Dorothy Arnold Butts

Mrs. Dorothy Arnold Butts, age 85, of 598 Hancock Street in Sparta died Thursday April 1 at her residence following an extended illness. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 3 in the Sparta Cemetery in Sparta. The Rev. Allen McCoy will officiate.

Mrs. Butts was a native and life long resident of Hancock County, the daughter of the late Bernice Arnold and the late Ella Will Meeks Arnold. She was the wife of the late Ben Walter Butts. Mrs. Butts was a homemaker and a retired bookkeeper for B & B Furniture Company and Friedman’s Dry Goods. She was a member of the Sparta Baptist Church.

Survivors are her two sons, Al Butts and his wife Debbie of Sparta and Mike Butts and his wife Jackie of Crawfordville, six grandchildren, Leigh Ann Cheeley, Jason Butts, Jennifer Comer, Chris Butts, Adam Butts and Jack Butts, seven great grandchildren, Eli Cheeley, Omi Cheeley, Haley Butts, Garrett Butts, Alli Comer , Georgia Comer and Ava Comer.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Friday.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Sparta Cemetery Fund, 8815 East Broad Street, Sparta, Georgia 31087.
