Dorothy Payne Meeks

Mrs. Dorothy Payne Meeks, age 81, of N. Pecan Dr. Sandersville, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 23rd at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Meeks was born in Arkansas the daughter of the late George O. Payne and the late Geneva Smith Payne. She was a homemaker and a member of the Piney Mount United Methodist Church. Mrs. Meeks is predeceased by her husband Troy Arnold Meeks and her sisters Margaret Ragsdale and Irene Long.

Survivors are her daughter, Renee M. Rivers of Sandersville, grandchildren, David Jason Mitchell and Jessica Michelle Mitchell both of Sandersville, great grandchildren Cassie Leigh McCoy, Nicholas Cole Mitchell, Dylan Mitchell, and Avery Mitchell, brothers, Glendon O. Payne of Kansas City MO., Sherman E. Payne of Dover AR, and Chester M. Payne of Germany, and sisters Genita Faye Hendrixson of St. Louis MO., George Olphelia “Pat” Owen of Dardenelle AR and Sandy Koch, Hot Springs, AR.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
