Mrs. Dorothy Johnson Smith, age 77, of Riddleville, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the Riddleville Baptist Church with burial in the Riddleville Cemetery. Rev. Bill Jones, Rev. Wade Dawson and Rev. Billy King will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bill Bailey, Justin Bailey, Chris Smith, Scott Bailey, Robert Bailey, Brandon Lindsey, Rex Smith, Brian Moncus, and Brad Moncus.
Mrs. Smith was born in Washington County the daughter of the late Morgan Johnson and the late Annie Laura Horton Johnson. She was a devoted wife and mother, a homemaker and a member of the Riddleville Baptist Church where she was a former children’s Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Smith was also a member of the Woodmen of the World. She is predeceased by her husband Donald K. Smith and her daughter Patsy Dianne Smith.
Survivors are her children Jimmy K. Smith (Carol) of Riddleville, Barbara S. Bailey of Milledgeville, Linda S. Lindsey of Riddleville, Dorothy S. Bailey (William) of Gray, Donald Rex Smith (Dianne) of Tennille and Eileen S. Moncus of Riddleville, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
The family will be at the Smith residence 8673 Hwy. 242 Riddleville and will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Directors, 1119 Riddleville Road, Sandersville.
