Dorothy Jean Smith Johnson

November 18, 1932 — April 5, 2018

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Smith Johnson, age 85, of Oconee, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at her residence following an extend illness. A graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 8 th at 4:00 p.m. at Bay Springs Cemetery in Oconee. Reverend Johnny Anderson will officiate.

Mrs. Johnson was a native and lifelong resident of Oconee, the daughter of the late James Barrs Smith and the late Lizzie Belle Green Smith. She graduated from the Oconee school and worked as a LPN at Oconee Heath Care Center from the time of its inception until her retirement. Mrs. Johnson possessed a green thumb and loved growing plants. She and her husband Oliver operated Johnson’s Green House for many years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Oconee Church of God, and she is predeceased by her husband James Oliver Johnson and her son Gralin Scott Johnson.

Survivors are her sons, Ronald Oliver Johnson and his wife Rosemary of Oconee and Dexter Hugh Johnson of Sandersville; grandchildren, Jeaneen J. Way and her husband Scotty of Wrightsville and Wendy J. McKinney and her husband Lee of Sandersville; and great grandchildren, Jacob Way, Amber Way, Mya Banks and Petra Kent.

The family will receive friends both prior and following the graveside service on Sunday in the Cemetery.
