Earl Allen Bivings

Mr. Earl Allen “Biv” Bivings, age 87, of 140 Transylvania Drive in Sandersville died Friday September 25 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday September 27 in the Sandersville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Harris and Rev. Mark Carter officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the Social Hall of the church. Burial will be private.

Biv was a native of Donaldsonville, Georgia and after high school graduation he spent four years in the United States Navy. He was in the hospital corp. during World War II participating in the Normandy invasion. After the war he attended the University of Georgia graduating with a six year degree in School Administration. He married Ann Watkins of Bartow, Georgia in 1950. He then moved to Sandersville as an educator and coach. After fifteen years with the Washington County Public Schools he became a partner in Smith – Sheppard Concrete Company, Inc., retiring in 1994. He was very active in the Sandersville United Methodist Church, the Sandersville Lions Club , the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and many other civic organizations. After retirement he enjoyed many happy years with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Watkins Bivings of Sandersville, two daughters, Bunny Bivings and Bess Boyd both of Sandersville, a grandson, Allen Boyd of Palm Coast, Florida, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Boyd of Tennille.

The family prefers in lieu of flowers, that memorial gifts be made to their favorite charity.

The family will be at Windcrest, the Bivings home on Transylvania Court in Sandersville.

May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
