Earl Steve Tanner

November 24, 1922 — April 30, 2022

Mr. Earl Steve Tanner, age 99, of Jones Road in Sandersville passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at his residence. A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Rick Freeman will officiate.

Mr. Tanner was born in Sandersville, the son of the late James Frank Tanner, and the late Rose Killingsworth Tanner. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and spent his working career in electrical instrumentation for Dupont. Mr. Tanner was a meticulous gentleman, and he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, music and ballroom dancing and anything to do with electronics. He enjoyed fellowship with the “boys and girls” of the Wendy’s Coffee Club. Mr. Tanner was a member of Sandersville First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his wives, Gladys Garrett Tanner and Rachel Wood Tanner.

Mr. Tanner is survived by his niece and caregiver, Dena Brett (Mike) of Sandersville; great niece and caregiver, Toni Sanders (Clayton) of Sandersville; great-great niece, Mia Sanders; great-great nephew, Greyson Sanders; and special caregivers, Linda Thomas, and Chelecia Watts.
