Earnest Marion Helton

Mr. Ernest M. Helton, age 85, of Deepstep, died Sunday, June 29, 2008. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 2, at 2:00pm at the Deepstep United Methodist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Larry Glover and Rev. Bruce Pittman will officiate. Pallbearers will be Randy Hall, Mike Leggett, Loring Boatright, Howard Veal, Cyrus Harris Jr., Michael Harris, Mike Abbott, and Richard Norris.

Mr. Helton was born in Haralson County Georgia the son of the late John H. Helton and the late Clara Anthony Helton. He was a long time resident of Atlanta and retired from the C & S Bank as a Building Superintendant. In 1983 he and his wife Martha retired to Deepstep where Mr. Helton was a member of the Deepstep United Methodist Church and served on the Deepstep City Council.

Survivors are his wife Martha Veal Helton of Deepstep, his daughter, Judy Helton Shore and her husband Darrell and son Tim Ernest Helton all of Douglasville, grandchildren, Shannon Shore Davidson, Sandy Shore Driscoll, and Piper Helton, great grandchildren, Garrett Driscoll, Hunter Driscoll, Mavrick Davison and Slade Davidson, one brother Howell Helton of Douglasville and sisters Eloise Doss of Newnan and Louise Dorsey of McDonough.

The family will be at the Helton residence 9476 Deepstep Rd. and will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
