Echlyn D. Haynes

Mrs. Echlyn D. Haynes, age 80, of Sandersville died on Saturday July 5 in the Tennille Retirement Home following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday July 8 in the First Christian Church of Sandersville. Reverend Doug Ivey will officiate with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.

Mrs. Haynes was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Fred Linwood Walters and the late Dorothy Mercer Walters. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Errol Haynes. She was a graduate of Tennille High School. For many years Mrs. Haynes was a sales clerk for the Shoe Box in Sandersville. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Sandersville, a Sunday school teacher for over fifty years and a member of the church choir. She was a member of the Washington County Historical Society. Mrs. Haynes was a dedicated ecologist, an avid bird watcher and lover of flowers.

Survivors are her husband, Jack Edward Haynes of Sandersville, a daughter, Maria Haynes Anders and her husband Ken of Milledgeville, four grandchildren, Jason Smith and his wife Jennifer of Dawsonville, Layla Haynes Boyd and her husband Kyle of Harlem, Trey Smith and Daniel Smith both of Milledgeville, four great grandchildren, Dylan Boyd, Dallas Boyd, Kylie Boyd and Luke Smith, two sisters, Guelda Walters Davis of Tennille and Joann Walters Smith and her husband Charles of Hampton, a brother, Mack Walters and his wife Linda of Sandersville.

The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Guelda Davis, 5591 Tennille-Oconee Road in Tennille and will receive friends from 5; 00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
