Mrs. Edith Moye McCoy, 89 of Davisboro died May 14, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 17th at 4:00 PM at the Davisboro United Methodist Church. Reverend Derek McAleer and Reverend Chad Watkins will officiate. Interment will follow at the McCoy family cemetery on the Sparta-Davisboro Road.
Pallbearers will be Willis Hartley, Angeli Brooks, Danny Brown, Larry Smith, Wayne Christian, Dewey Holton, Phil Prichard, Robert Harrell, Terry Garrett, and Joe Norris.
Mrs. McCoy was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Lonnie J. Moye, Sr. and the late Vesta Wommack Moye. She, along with her late husband, George Scott McCoy, founded and operated McCoy Farm Service Center in Davisboro. She was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau; the Cattleman’s Association and she was an active conservationist. Mrs. McCoy was a life long member of the Davisboro United Methodist Church, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Choir member, member of the United Methodist Women, and served on various other Church Boards. Mrs. McCoy was involved in her family farm and was selected as the 1996 Conservationist of the Year by the Central Georgia Soil and Water Conservation District.
Mrs. McCoy was predeceased by her husband, George Scott McCoy, Sr., her son Arthur Eugene McCoy, her sisters Valeria Moye Pate and Harriett Moye Francis, and her brother Lonnie J. Moye, Jr.
Survivors include her two sons, George Scott McCoy, Jr. (Pendery) of Sandersville, David Michael McCoy (Katye) of Tennille, and daughter, Kathy McCoy Gibbs (Joe) of Alto, a sister, Bett Bender of Davisboro and a brother, Dan Moye (Mary) of Tennille, grandchildren Chris McCoy (Julie) of Cumming, Meredith McCoy Hoffmann (Thomas), of Camarillo, CA, Jennifer McCoy Thompson of Gray, great grandchildren Cooper and Carson McCoy of Cumming and Tatom and Alexander Hoffmann of Camarillo, CA.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the
McCoy residence, 12311 Highway 24 W., Davisboro and will also receive friends following the committal service at the McCoy Farm.
