Mrs. Edith Chappell McMaster, age 87, of 276 West Adams Street in Tennille passed away September 11 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on September 14 at 4:00 P.M. in the Tennille United Methodist Church with entombment at the Zeta Cemetery.

Mrs. McMaster was born in Richland, Georgia, the daughter of the late Leroy Chappell and the late Amelia Morton Chappell. She graduated from Wesleyan College in 1942, earning a Bachelor of Music degree, where she studied piano at the Conservatory with Joseph Maerz, renowned pianist and professor. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Chandler McMaster, Sr. of Tennille. She spent much of her life sharing her talent and the gift of music as the choir director for the Tennille United Methodist Church. Edith was a member of the Gov. Jared Irwin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Tennille Garden Club, and the Tennille United Methodist Women. Above all other things, Edith was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors are her children, William C. McMaster, Jr. (Faye), Paula McMaster both of Tennille, David C. McMaster (Sandra) of Sandersville, Hugh B. McMaster (Laura) and Sue M. Sanda (David) both of Macon, grandchildren, Kay F. McMaster,(Charlie Buckholtz) of Atlanta, William C. McMaster, III (Gina) of Greenville, S.C., Laura E. McMaster of Atlanta, Charles M. Sanda, Amy C. Sanda and John Chandler McMaster all of Macon, two great grandchildren, W. Chandler McMaster IV and Patrick R. McMaster of Greenville, S.C..

May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Tennille United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 265, Tennille, Georgia 31089 or the Zeta Cemetery Trust Fund, P.O. Box 1, Tennille, Georgia 31089.

The family will be receiving friends at the McMaster home at 276 West Adams Street in Tennille.
There will also be a visitation at May and Smith Funeral Home on Saturday September 13 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M.
