Edward Joseph Harrelson

Mr. Edward Joseph “E. J.” Harrelson, age 74, of 241 Peacock Way in Tennille died Monday morning March 22 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center in Sandersville following an extended illness.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 24 in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. The Rev. Mark Jones will officiate.

Mr. Harrelson was a native of Darlington County, SC., the son of the late Henry Phillips Harrelson and the late Fair Mae Harrell Harrelson. He was a graduate of the Tabor City High School and the Georgia Military College. Mr. Harrelson was retired from the United States Air Force with 22 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Conflict. Mr. Harrelson was a retired transportation director of the Washington County Board of Education. He was a member and Deacon of the Tennille Baptist Church and former Sunday School Director. He was a member of the Tennille Masonic Lodge # 256 and the Georgia School Bus Drivers Association.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Anderson Harrelson of Tennille, his daughters, Carolyn Alberta Hartzell and her husband Randy of Milledgeville and Elizabeth Joan Harrelson Herman of Spring Hill, TN., a son, Dr. Phillip Ray Harrelson and his wife Beth of Spring Hill, TN., six grandchildren, Justin Hartzell, Joshua Hartzell, Grace Hohnadel, Abigale Harrelson, Carlin Harrelson and Elijah Herman, a brother, Dwight Harrelson of Lugoff, SC. .

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
