Sandersville

Mr. Edward Allen Kennedy, age 85 of Sandersville passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Heritage Inn following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 2:00p.m. at Pine Hill Methodist Church in Warthen with burial following in the church cemetery. Reverend Don Black will officiate, and the Sandersville Gideons will serve as pallbearers, with the Gideons Auxiliary serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.

Mr. Kennedy was born in Manassas, Georgia, the son of the late Ernest Edward Kennedy and the late Evielyn Barnes Kennedy. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Kennedy was a long-time employee of Bearings and Drive and worked there until his retirement in 2000. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising registered Poll Hereford cows. Mr. Kennedy was a man of strong Christian faith and a dedicated member of Pine Hill Methodist Church and the Sandersville Gideons. More than anything else, he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Corrie Pierce, and his grandson, Taylor Key.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Vera Clements Kennedy; daughter, Cindy Kennedy Collins (Al) of Macon; sons, Brad Kennedy, Keith Kennedy (Kim) both of Sandersville, and Devin Kennedy (Judy) of Rincon; step daughter, Cathy Holsonback (John) of Augusta; grandchildren, Richard Kennedy, John Michael Kennedy (Megan), Christian Kennedy (Brittany), and McLaurin Kennedy; step grandchildren, Preston Key (Cienna) and Ashley Key; great grandchildren, Nathan McDade, Jackson Kennedy, Kayleigh Kennedy, Lilly Kennedy, Azzraella Key, Isabella Key, Meredith Key, Cassyn Key, Hayleigh Key, Glenn Key, Matthew Key, Emma Key, and John Key; and beloved dog, Tiny.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 891, Sandersville, GA 31082, or to Pine Hill Methodist Church, c/o Debra Everett, 1620 GA Hwy 102, Warthen, GA 31094.
