Mr. Edward Pless Miller,Sr., age 94, of 610 Tucker Road in Deepstep died Sunday September 6 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday September 8 in the Deepstep United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Larry Giles and Rev. Bob Lott will officiate. Pallbearers will be Cleave Ed Davis, Paul Davis, William Hutchings, Chris Hutchings, Daryl Hutchings, Melton Jones, Hal Jones, Allen Sheppard, David Sheppard, Roan Miller and Bill Miller.

Mr. Miller was a native of Crisp County, Georgia, the son of the late Cleave Bivins Miller and the late Jessica Pless Miller. He was the co-owner of Miller’s Food Store in Sandersville for over 55 years. Mr. Miller had attended the International Harvester Mechanics Technical School and a graduate of the Air Force Technical School and a certified engine mechanic of the Pratt and Whitney air craft engines. He was a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. Mr. Miller was a former President of the Board of Directors of Associated Food Stores. He was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Deepstep United Methodist Church and the Administrative Board.

Survivors are his wife, Thena Hutchings Miller of Deepstep, a daughter, Kathy Miller (Don) Helton of Tennille, a son, Edward P. (Sylvia) Miller, Jr. of Deepstep, a sister, Jean Miller Sheppard of Sandersville, six grandchildren, Don Helton, Jr., Nicole Helton, Andrea Helton, Amber Miller Sumner, Rachel Miller Britt and Jessica Thena Miller, six great grandchildren, Lizzie Helton, Benjamin Helton, Emma Victoria Sumner, Nathan Miller Sumner, Ella McCall Britt and Mary Frances Britt.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 6:30 P.M. on Monday.
