Edwin Grover Josey

Mr. Eddie Josey, age 70, of Sunhill Grange Road, Sandersville, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Sandersville with Reverend Lee Lacey and Mr. Mike Sheppard officiating. Eddie’s family will greet friends following the memorial service in the social hall of the church.

Edwin Grover Josey was born son of the late Lewis Edwin Josey and Gloria Greenway Josey on March 27, 1956 in Macon, Georgia. He grew up there where he graduated from Mount DeSales High School in 1974. There he excelled in many activities, especially football, winning state titles and making dear life long friends. He moved to Sandersville in 1977 where he married the love of his life, Nancy Parker in 1979. There they began a beautiful family. Eddie worked for Anglo American Clay Company for 18 years before starting Josey Plumbing Company which he operated faithfully until his health would not allow him to. During this period, he developed hundreds of new friendships and helped many people. He would go day or night to help family, friends and neighbors. Eddie was a member of First Baptist Church of Sandersville where he was a devoted member of Missions and Service Sunday School Class.

Eddie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and true friend to many. He dearly loved family gatherings and excursions with special friends. He was a devoted fan of the sports, dance and cheer events his children and grandchildren participated in. He had a great love for the outdoors, instilled in him by his Daddy. He couldn’t wait to start a garden each spring so he could fill his freezer and share his bounty with family and friends. Eddie truly loved hunting and fishing and roaming the woods!

Eddie is celebrating in heaven with his parents, Buck and Gloria Josey and his grandparents, Anna and Willie Pounds and Lewis and Lorena Josey as well as many very dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Eddie is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy Josey; wonderful children, Leanne McDonald (Chad), Buck Josey (Tiffany); 6 grandchildren he adored, Cam Dollar, Josey McDonald, Wynn Josey, Baily Josey, Cheyenne Meader and Levi Meader; his sister, Connie J. Daniels (Charles); brother, Randy Josey (Tamara); brother-in-law, Lee Parker (Cynthia) along with many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
