Mrs. Elizabeth Sue "Betty" Durden, age 85, of Sandersville died on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in an Augusta hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 13 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jon Moore, Roger Moore, Scott Moore, Chris Durden, Charlie Durden and Dustin Durden.
Mrs. Durden was a native of Screven County, but had lived in Washington County for many years. She was the daughter of the late Schley Moore and the late Alice Bothwell Moore. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Durden was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church and a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include: her children, Bill Durden and his wife Tammy of Sandersville, Jack Durden and his wife Marie of Sandersville and Sue Durden of Sandersville; three grandchildren, Chris Durden and his wife Michele, Charlie Durden and his wife Sarah and Dustin Durden; two great grandchildren, Kristin Durden and Lilly Durden.
The family suggest donations be made to the Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 2525, Macon, Georgia 31203.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Monday and from 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday until the hour of service at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
