Elizabeth Amerson Hattaway

June 18, 1926 — June 27, 2008

Mrs. Elizabeth Amerson Hattaway, age 82, of 164 Boland Street in Sparta died Friday morning June 27 in the Putnam General Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Sunday June 29 in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church near Hamburg with burial in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Seaman and Bobby Hattaway will officiate. Pallbearers will be Don Roberson, Dean Roberson, Chris Rogers, Michael Parris, Eric Goodnough and Josh Goodnough. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby McDonald, Jerry McDonald, Wayne Chalker, Jerry Roberson, Harvey Rogers, Rusty Merritt, Tommy Yarborough and H. T. Downs.

Mrs. Hattaway was a native of Washington County but had lived in Sparta for many years. She was the daughter of the late David Amerson and the late Mary Griswold Amerson. She was the wife of the late James Robert Hattaway. Mrs. Hattaway was a retired licensed practical nurse with Providence Nursing Home. She was a member of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors are three daughters, Mary Jane H. Stephens of Simpsonville, S.C., Jackie H. Goodnough of Simpsonvile, S.C., and Vicki H. Morgan of Sparta, a son, Robert Hattaway of Sparta, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sister in law, Betty Amerson of Lilburn.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home, 1119 Riddleville Road in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday. The family suggests that donations may be made to the Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Mrs. Hattaways memory.

May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
