Elizabeth Shurling Prince

Mrs. Elizabeth Shurling Prince, age 93, of Sandersville, died Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Washington County Extended Care Facility.  A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Sisters Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.  Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Andy Carter will officiate. Mrs. Princes’ grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Prince was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Hudson Little Shurling and the late Annie Mary Ivey Shurling.  She married her husband of 72 years, Clyde H. Prince in 1946 and began a life raising her family and being a homemaker.  She was an active member of Sisters Baptist Church, formerly serving her church as a preschool teacher, Sunday school teacher, church secretary and church librarian.  Mrs. Prince loved to cook and would cater to the public.  She was an artist, an avid reader and loved sewing and working in her garden.  She possessed a great love for all children and relished time with grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and her husband Clyde, Mrs. Princes’ siblings, Steve Walter Shurling and Lena Mae Vinson predecease her.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl Prince Lynn and her husband Ronald of Metter, Jimmy Prince and his wife Twanda of Sandersville, Dawn Prince Johnson and her husband Earl of Tennille, Claire Prince Redfern and her husband Tommy of Warthen and John Mark Prince and his wife Debra of Gibson; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Maggie Shurling and Faye Mathis; and brother-in-law, Van Prince and his wife Gayle.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.
